Wording of this Handout:

Who is to blame?

A farmer once caught a little boy stealing apples from his tree.

"Hey boy!" said the farmer, "What do you think you're doing?"

"It isn't me!" said the boy, "Its my hands taking the apples!"

"And whose wrists are the hands attached to?" asked the farmer.

"Mine" said the boy.

"And whose arms are the wrists attached to?" asked the farmer.

"Mine" said the boy.

"And whose body are the arms attached to?" asked the farmer.

"Mine" said the boy.

"And whose heart had the idea to use the body, the arms, wrists and the hands to steal those apples?"

"Mine" said the boy, "I'm sorry."

Every sin we commit starts with an invisible thought. The thoughts are not sinful, but what we do with the thoughts is.

The Bible says: "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts..."Matthew 15:19 (King James version)
