Wording of this Handout:

The Lord my Most High God.

The ninth name of God is Jehovah Elyon which means the Lord Most High.

This name appears in Psalm 7. If you read the Psalm you will see that it is a call by David to God to help him when he is threatened. Like most normal people, David does not want to be hurt. He specially does not like being attacked by people he has not wronged or offended.

He asks God to finish off the wicked, and to come down hard on them. He wants God to some serious judging! I can understand this feeling, having come across many times in my life, people who treat other people like dirt. Life is full of injustice and unfairness. Some people go through life ripping everyone else off - and they see to get away with it!

But the Psalm also points out that over all the world, over all the comings and goings of people, over all the good and all the bad, is God, and God is higher and more powerful than anyone. So David calls to God for help, and ends his words with an appeal to the Lord Most high ( There is no higher court of appeal!)

I sure have a friend in a high place!!
