Wording of this Handout:
Once upon a time there was a little fish. He was a nice little fish, but he was also a bit dopey, because he could never find the sea.
One day he swam to his grandfather and said ?Please grandfather, tell me where the sea is? What is it made of? How can I find it
And grandfather fish said ?Go for a long swim, and as you paddle along, have a look up, and down and from side to side, and maybe you will find the sea.?
So away went the little fish, swimming and swimming. He paddled along, looking up, and down, and from side to side, and after many days he grew tired. He swam to a rock and rested.
Then along came another little fish. It swam to the dopey fish and said ?Why are you so sad? Have you lost something??
?Yes? said the dopey fish, ?I?ve lost the sea, and I don?t know where to find it.?
The other fish laughed, and said ?Well, I guess if you swim in it, and breathe it, and eat it, and sleep in it, and still don?t know where it is, you probably never will!?
There are people who wonder about God like this. They live in God?s universe, on God?s world. They eat food from God, and breathe air from God. They spend their whole lives using a body which God gave them.. . and yet they never find God!
