Run like crazy!
When I was twenty something I came to know a minister, a man who led a small Presbyterian church in Christchurch. He seemed at first to be quite a nice man, but after a few months he started to say things from the pulpit on Sundays which were not exactly correct. Then one afternoon he invited me to his house for a 'prayer meeting."
When I got there, he and two other men were busy attaching an electroencephalogram to their heads. This gadget measured the brain waves - we have a different wave when we are asleep of awake - and they were trying to force their brains into a certain wave, so they could see visions. Good grief! This wasn't a prayer meeting!!
I waited about five minutes, then I politely excused myself, "I can't see anything in the Bible to support this" I said, and ran home gratefully.
Later I asked God to either close this minister down, or put him in some obscure, far away parish, where he could do the least damage. The next Sunday the surprised (bewildered) man read a letter which he had received, posting him, without any notice or warning, directly to some distant rural parish. He was gone in a few days.
I figured God would hear me better if I was a bit nearer to where he lives!
