359 - Getting Into the new

My father had asthma. When he was in the air force during the Second World War he was brought home because he couldn't breathe properly when he was flying above the English Channel - German-plane-spotting. Years later, when I was a boy, I can still remember hearing Dad wheezing badly as he tried to put Pink Batts (Insulation) into the ceiling.

I had chronic asthma for a few years too. It was terrible. I couldn't run anywhere without ending up on my back gasping for air. I had an enlarged heart and lungs and I was rather feeble.

But one day I found a verse in the Bible, so I prayed it back to God and claimed it for myself. I wanted God to wipe out the inherited asthma, since I was now a Christian. And gradually, from that day on, the asthma disappeared. I never had it again all through the end of primary school, and on into secondary. I took up Harriers and trained up to 100 miles a week. I have never had asthma since.

Read the verse at the bottom of the page and, if you like, ask God to set you free from the 'old things' which sometimes get passed on from generation to generation.
