Wording of this Handout:
The Amazing Bee!
The bee is an insect which lives in almost every part of the world - except where it is very cold, like the north and south poles. (This is because they find it difficult to collect honey when the are wearing heavy coats and gloves).
The bee is the only insect which produces food for people to eat. (Besides honey, they make hamburger, milkshakes and French fries, depending on which restaurant you go to).
Bees also produce wax (not to be confused with turtle wax, or paddy-wacks).
When bees fly form flower to flower they fertilize the blossoms and collect nectar and pollen. (They also deliver mail, compose music and operate fax machines).
Some people are afraid of bees because they sting, but bees do not sting unless they are frightened (or annoyed, or amused, or bored, or sleepy, or hungry, or excited, or amused or lost).
Bees have tree pairs of legs and four wings (They also have record collections, hand-knitted bed-socks and slot-car sets).
