Before the king could stop her, she jumped into his arms and give him a kiss! The king tried to push her away, but he was too late. Before he could move, the girl had turned a bright yellow. Now she was made of solid gold. "My daughter!" cried the king. Tears sprang from his eyes, falling as drops of gold to the ground.
Suddenly, the stranger appeared again. "I see you have learned a good lesson" said the stranger, "You have discovered that there is something more valuable than gold" "Yes" said the king, "I would give all the gold in the world for the love of my little girl! "Then take a jug to the river, and fill it with water. Whatever you tip the water over will change back to what it was." The king ran to the river with a jug and jumped in, then he tipped water over all the golden things, and changed them back, But he left his sandals on the bottom of the river, where they shone, and when he changed his daughter back to how she was, her hair had a golden color, which it did not have before. The king was like a new man. He saw a new beauty in the flowers, and in the people of his palace, and he treasured his daughter far more than he had ever loved gold.
