Stories of Jesus

One day, when Jesus was going about helping people, a very important man cam e to him.

"My daughter!" said the man, kneeling on the ground in front of Jesus, "She has just died! But I have heard about your power, and I believe you can bring her back to life!"

Jesus was pleased that this man should have so much trust in him, so he started to walk to the man's house.

When he got there, the funeral had already started. There were people standing about, playing flutes, and there were people crying and wiping the tears from their eyes.

"Clear the room of people," said Jesus. "This girl is not dead, she is only sleeping."

The people were amazed when he said this, because they knew when someone was dead. The girl's heart was not beating, and she was cold. Some of the people even laughed at Jesus and said he was mad!

But Jesus patiently waited for the room to clear, then he took the girl's cold, dead hand into his own. As soon as he touched it, the girl came back to life!

"Here is your daughter," he said, as he brought her out into the sunlight. The girl's father was crying with joy.

"Thank you, Jesus! Thank you!" he said.

Hickory, dickory dice,
Three mice were frozen in ice,
They were served, as a lark,
To a man in the park,
Who decided they didn't taste nice.
