Wording of this Handout:
In the Old Testament, in the Law given by God to Moses for Israel, there are about 600 rules. Some of these rules are easy to keep, while others are quite difficult, but none of them are impossible to keep.
The trouble is, there are so many of them! If you were an Israelite living in those days, you might break one or two, sometimes by accident. You might touch a dead body, or fail to round up your neighbor's wandering stock, or eat meat with blood in it, or forget to cover a hole where people were walking.... so it seems reasonable to believe that every Israelite, at some time or other, broke God's Law, some time.
Which means that every Israelite sinned. Sin means condemnation and judgment. God provided the sacrifices to cover sin - until Jesus came. If you are a Christian, the punishment for breaking all or any of the Law is gone. And if you break any of it today, the punishment continues to be paid, by Jesus.
Ha! Justas I though - no rules for Dogs!
The Bible says "Therefore, there is now no condemnation (judgment) for those who are in Christ Jesus"
(Romans 8:1 New International Version)
