Forgive and forget?

The best attitude to hold is one of forgiveness. This means being a bit like a duck in the rain - all the drops run off the feathers and duck stays dry underneath.

But forgiving does not always mean forgetting, so what usually happens is, whenever we remember the wrongs done to us we have to instantly forgive them all over again. Hurts are like sticky oil - once they are allowed to stick, they work their way in and stain everything.

Even God cannot forget our sins - he says he will "remember them no more," which means he does not allow their memory to have any bearing on his thoughts. He doesn't "forget" them. Just remembers no more. There is a difference.

Some people we just have to keeping loving, and forgiving, but we also need wisdom. No sense in giving people more opportunities to hurt us than they already get!

Hey, hey hey another dry day!

The Bible says "Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others."
(Colossians 3:13 The Living Bible paraphrase)
