How long is a day?

Some people just can't seem to read the Bible without making up all sorts of silly theories. One of these theories is that the days of Genesis, when God created everything, were not 24 hour days, but thousands or millions of years!

The word for "day" in Genesis 1 and 2 is "yom" and beside this word we have the words "the evening and the morning" which is God's way of letting us know that these were normal days such as we have today.

And if that isn't clear enough, some plain common sense makes it even clearer. If those "days" were a thousand years, then we have plants on day three waiting a long time for the insects to be created on day six so they can pollinate them!

We also have to explain how come God made our six days work and one day rest all 24 hours each. If they were even a hundred years per day we'd have to work a long time before we had a break!

And don't forget that Jesus accepted the Genesis account without correcting it. Do these people with their own theories really think they know better than Jesus?!

Please - no more theories! Why can't you just read it as it is written!?!
