Wording of this Handout:

Two Dreams
While Joseph was in prison on false charges of rape, two other prisoners with him had strange dreams. A butler and a baker both dreamed things, which Joseph explained accurately, and what he said came to pass : the butler was called back to service, and the baker had his head cut off.

"Remember me" said Joseph to the butler, "When you get your job back!" The butler promised he would, but he forgot. The years went by slowly. Two long years. What was Joseph thinking through those passing weeks? De he wonder what had happened to the butler's promise?

In the story of Joseph, the is one thing which keeps coming up, and that is Joseph's ability to forgive. Whatever happened to hime he got over it, and forgave his enemies. There is no mention of any burning resentment, or desire to get revenge. He just went on with his life and trusted the Lord to sort things our.

After two years the king of Egypt had a dream, and finally the butler remembered to mention Joseph. The king of Egypt called for Joseph and now a new stage in Joseph's life began.

It's like that with us too. Sometimes life seems to take a plunge downwards, but when God is at work, down means up!

The Bible says "Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon;"
- Genesis 41:12
