Wording of this Handout:
Eve's big mistake
In the garden of Eden, Satan Tempted Eve to eat the fruit which God has clearly forbidden. If we look at what Eve said, we can see some of the big errors which people still make today.
Even said that God had said about not eating the fruit, but she added 'neither shall you touch it". God never said a word about 'touching' the fruit! Eve had added to God's Word.
If you read the conversation between Eve and Satan you will see that she misquoted God three times! She reduced what God had said, she exaggerated what God had said, and she added to what he said.
Do you think God needed Eve's help with what He said? Do you think Eve did the right thing by explaining in her own opinion what she thought God had said? And what about Adam, who was standing nearby and listening - why didn't he interrupt and correct his wife?
Just about every problem which people have today is a result of doing what Eve did. God says what He means and means what He says, and if we keep to that rule we will be doing well.
The Bible says "You shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish ought from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD you God which I command you."
