Wording of this Handout:

Why Was Sodom Destroyed?

Sodom and the four other cities connected with there were destroyed for several reasons. One reason was because they were practicing sexual deviancy, It had become acceptable and normal for the people of Sodom to be homosexual, lesbian, incestuous, prostitutes and all other variations - all abnormal and unacceptable to God.

Another reason was because the people had become proud and haughty. If you read Ezekiel 16:49 you will see this.

A third reason was because they were idle, or lazy, indulging in the excesses of wealth, which probably means "pigging out" on rich foods, gluttony, drunkenness and so forth.

A fourth reason was their failure to care for the poor and needy.

Not that this all happened overnight. It took many years for this five-city culture to grow, and every day of those years the people had the chance to chose God's ways, but they didn't. Lot came along and got sucked into the corruption too, and his wife, and his daughters. It was a sad day when the angels came to tell Lot to leave.

The Bible says, "And they were haughty and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good."
