Wording of this Handout:
Bruce
There is a true story which comes from North America, about a little girl who followed her father into the mountains one day. She thought she would catch up with him, but he walked to quickly, and soon she was left behind.
She sheltered in a small cave and spent a long, miserable night.
In the morning her father returned, but before he reached the cave he saw a dead timber wolf on the ground. Not far from the wolf was another, and beside it lay Bruce, the girl's dog, dead as well. Then he saw his girl, and he ran to her.
Bruce had followed the trail of the girl and found her in the cave, but then the wolves had come, so Bruce had fought them, killing two and driving the others away, but the battle had been too much for him and he had died - he died to save the girl's life.
What does this story tell us about the love of Jesus for poor, weak, helpless sinners like you and me?
The Bible says, "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly."
Romans 5:6
