Basic Principles

Our constitution was written many years ago
The founding Fathers declared it so.
The laws of Government for the new land would be
Based upon the "Ten Commandments" for all to see.

These basic principles would be taught in schools,
Where future generations would learn the Golden Rule
Writing, Arithmetic, and the Bible would be read,
Right from wrong would be taught and prayers said.

In courts across the land, Judges made the call,
On the written word that was fair to all.
A sentence of death for the accused crime;
"Give your life to God while there is still time!"

It is no wonder our children are confused today,
The constitution's meaning has changed some say.
There is crime and destruction everywhere we look.
Our Nation is no longer based on "The Good Book."

It is very plain to see that changes are being made
To the foundation that was so carefully laid
No peace can be found where there is moral decay
Without the Basic Principles, there is no hope for today!
