Number One

by Carolyn Pendley

I had a dream of holding His hand
We were walking on the water
Just me and this man.
When suddenly I faltered
But He never let go
He said, Child don't you fear
When troubled waters run cold

For I came to help you
And I came to love you
You'll always be number one
To God's only Son.

He came to save me
From sin and despair
He said take all your worries
Toss them into the air.
I came here to hold you
And I will never let go,
I'm the life to your spirit
When troubled waters run cold.

He said consider the lilies
and fowls in the air
Take no thought for tomorrow
Let go of your cares
I came here to love you
Love will never wax old
I'm the bridge you can cross on
When troubled waters run cold.

For I came to help you
And I came to love you
You'll always be number one
To God's only Son.
