Patriot Day Memories

by Margaret Cagle

When I think of Nine-Eleven
With all its pain and woe,
The memories of these tragedies
Still cause my tears to flow.

This day goes down in history,
And is aptly named Patriot Day.
Many died a true patriot's death,
Placing their lives in harm's way.

Nine-Eleven has put America
In a terrorist-awareness mode.
"Friendly skies" turned cautious,
Holding to a strict security code.

We can waste away precious time
Looking over our shoulders for harm,
But I choose to trust in the Lord,
For He has a long protective arm.

May God bless our dear nation,
And for our leaders, let us pray.
May God help us learn from history,
As we all remember Patriot Day.
