Your Scars

Long ago in joy You had spoke,
Creation in all glory woke.
Each word You would speak, "Let there be...",
Then life began for all to see.

What pow'r, what wonder - what purpose,
Where waves would crash on the surface!
A hundred billion cosmic stars!
How can it be we caused Your scars??!

Light and darkness, water and land,
All came to be - Your mighty hand!
The sky with clouds that swirl around.
Throughout the earth is new life found.

Trees and grasses, ferns and flowers,
And mountains! - majestic towers!
Fish and whales, birds, horses and more,
Now here from Your heavenly store!

Then man, male and female, so grand,
We came to life by Your own hand!
A hundred billion cosmic stars!
How can it be we caused Your scars??!

A crown of thorns upon your brow
Your blood would flow upon us now.
With spear in side and nails in hand,
Yes, death is where You took Your stand.

Your love would flow on us that day.
The wrath of God from us would stay.
A hundred billion cosmic stars!

Isaiah 52:14b..So His appearance was marred more than any man and His form more than the sons of men.
