God-Pleasing Speech

by Margaret Cagle

O Lord, please help me, I pray
To say just the right words today.
Today, O Lord, let it not be heard
From my lips one discouraging word.

May I encourage others in the Lord,
Getting along with them in one accord.
Using my tongue in a pleasing way,
Help me to help others by what I say.

Lord, I must exalt the name of Christ.
For my many sins, He was sacrificed.
He is worthy of my highest praise.
May He ever lead me in all my ways.

By witnessing for Jesus every day,
I can use my tongue in a good way.
To be a vessel for You, I'm willing.
I ask for the Holy Spirit's filling.

Lord, please help me when I speak
To use a manner, humble and meek.
May my words be God-pleasing today.
This all in Jesus' name I pray.
