Careful little tongue

My tongue is a little member
yet it causes so much pain
especially when I cease to praise
start to grumble and to complain.

Help me to be slow to speak
compassionate and swift to hear
he that refrains his lips is wise
please give me a listening ear.

May I open my mouth with wisdom
Holy Spirit speak through me
by saying all that should be said
and not all which could be.
