To Catch The Fire

by Pamela MacBean © 2006

TO CATCH THE FIRE

I'm fading into the shadows again.
I need that all consuming fire!
Listening too much to the liar,
And not to my sweetest friend.

My Bible's under piles and piles -
a journal, an old poetry volume,
Life Mag of Lennon in my room;
Not much help for worldly trials.

Hardly any Holy Spirit glow
Upon this face of mine, I fear.
I know the Lord is always near,
But I'm running my own show.

Take away nightmares that choke.
You shine Jesus. You shine.
Need the world to know you're mine.
Give me back my peace, my hope.

I need to splash my mind's file
With the water of your Word,
To wield my faith, my sword
To turn back old Satan's wiles.

Your love letter's been calling me
To be strong in the power of the Lord,
But I need to open it to move forward.
Oh, it'll feel so good to truly be free!
