The Cross of Christ

by Micah Betzner

I stood beside the Cross of Christ,
I marveled at the cost
Of love divine and mercy's price,
That ransomed me, once lost.

I asked the Lord, while gazing there,
"What made you die for me?"
He said, while hanging, lone and bare
"Twas only love for Thee."

Still now today, I think of Him
Though now above He reigns.
His love still bids me follow Him,
I hear its wondrous strains.

How much it grieves our Life, our Lord,
When we refuse to trust
By faith, His leading through His Word
For He has paid our cost.

A life complete, and giv'n to God
His life displayed, a fire;
His Word should be your daily food,
His glory, your desire.

Still now today, I think of Him
Though now above He reigns.
His love still bids me follow Him,
I hear its wondrous strains.

How much it grieves our Life, our Lord,
When we refuse to trust
By faith, His leading through His Word
For He has paid our cost.

A life complete, and giv'n to God
His life displayed, a fire;
His Word should be your daily food,
His glory, your desire.
