Growing Old Gracefully

by Margaret Cagle

Lord, You have been good to me.
Now old age is creeping up.
The blessings You have bestowed
Have really overflowed my cup.

I thought as I became older,
I could slow down and enjoy life,
But old-age physical problems
Can bring on a little strife.

I want to grow old gracefully,
But it is not so easy to do.
With Your help, I can do it
And be a blessing to others too.

When I am ailing now and then,
Help me not to ever complain.
Nobody wants to hear all about
My various aches and my pain.

When the grandchildren make noise
And make me as nervous as can be,
Give me the grace to bear it,
For I love them dearly, You see.

Lord, help me not to act grumpy
As old age is getting so near.
I want to grow old gracefully
And enjoy my last years here.
