Welcoming Waters

by Marilyn Goerler

I had to say goodbye today, a final parting word,
whispered softly to the sea, a prayer he only heard.
It was for peace, eternal bliss, denied him many years.
Now for him, throw roses in, and wipe away the tears.

He's gone to waters welcoming and arms to hold him tight.
He'll never feel the pain again that was so hard to fight.
Eternal grace and love abound on these familiar waves
that take the ashes tenderly, as God his sweet soul saves.
