Through You

by Melissa Sullivan

Sitting there all alone
abandoned by those I knew.
Laughed at and ridiculed,
my disgrace and humiliation grew.

I felt so dirty and ashamed,
because of what I had done.
My offenses were divulged to all,
I was renounced by everyone.

They all began to run away,
leaving as fast as they could.
Some even scoffed at me
because it made them feel so good.

I asked God to send someone
Who could see beyond my mistakes.
A friend that I could lean on
when the ground began to shake.

You heard God's whisper
above the yelling and the lies.
They told you to stay away from me
but you listened to my cries.

Through you I saw His mercy
and felt His loving embrace.
You walked right beside me,
an example of His grace.
