A Fiery Furnace Moment

by Margaret Cagle

Asked the King, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
You didn't bow down to my image; is that so?
If bowing not when the instruments sound,
You will be cast into the fiery furnace bound."

"If this happens," answered the three to the king,
"Our God, Whom we serve will deliverance bring."
Then the furious King ordered the furnace heated.
They thought these young men were defeated.

To worship God was these three men's desire,
So they were cast bound right into the fire.
The King was amazed when he looked in,
For he saw not three, but he saw four men.

"The fourth man is like the Son of God," said he.
The three men came forth, not bound, but free.
The fire had no power on these three men,
For God delivered the three young men then.

A fiery furnace moment came to these three,
But they still stood true to their God, you see.
If a fiery furnace moment comes your way,
Will you trust in God, or will you go astray?

A fiery furnace moment may come in your life.
It may cause you trouble, woe, and strife.
Just stand for the Lord God through it all.
Trust in His guidance as upon Him you call.
