The war was over and the victory had been won,
In towns, large and small, celebrating had begun.
Sounds of folks singing and shouting all around,
Declaring the war ended, what a beautiful sound.
My eight year old eyes pasted a picture in my mind,
Of what took place and the memories it left behind.
The celebrating ended with the rising of the sun,
Hearts were merry, the war's over, the battle's won.
Called World War Two and scary for a lad my age,
Now it was over and peace had centered the stage.
Yet in only a few short years this peace was gone,
Once again the bugle sounded and the battle's on.
A history repeat, for there'd been many in the past,
With the question being, which one will be the last.
God's Word gives us the answer to these concerns,
Saying that true peace want come til Jesus returns.
