I stand amidst the darkness,
I dwell within the grave.
My hope lies cold, extinguished,
My fear now calls me slave.
Too many times I've failed,
Too often I have found
That my dreams slip through my fingers,
That they wither on the ground.
Oh, where lies now my comfort?
Oh, who shall be my stay?
To God I cry for solace,
To Christ I kneel and pray.
Come hold me now my Savior.
Come fold me in Your wings.
To You I full surrender,
To You my spirit clings.
From the stillness He does answer,
From within I hear Him speak.
If you'll walk in faith My child
If My will you'll only seek.
I will lift you from the darkness,
I will give you even more.
You will dwell within My glory,
You will find an open door.
