As day draws in the deepening twilight,
And the Magnificent Maker moves into His throne,
Our Savior will wink, and whisper goodnight.

Drowsy heads begin drooping and drift off in flight,
Waving their wings where angels have flown,

Then happily the heavens will hang in our sight,
And from a depthless dome of worlds unknown

Heavenly Father, looking down from His height,
Sees the lofty and lowly lay themselves prone

Now the world may mourn the vanishing light,
But as it bemoans the blot on its tone,

So let dream denning eyes rest in delight,
