I'm Free

by Clinton Herring

Lost in time I knew my crime -
covered in sin everywhere within.
What hope had I but death?

No hope had I in God's eye.
Yet mercy came and took my blame
His love gave me new breath.

The cost was high my soul to buy.
The Son gave life to end my strife.
I fell on knees and cried.

His blood He shed, my life to wed.
The cross as King, His sacrifice would ring!
Lost hope with me - I'd tried.

But now I'm safe, and gone the strafe.
I am filled with joy, new hope I employ!
The King of love is He.

He covers my soul, and fills that hole.
My heart now blessed so I can rest,
the one who set me free!
