Silence will not overtake us

by Matt Gullett

Silence will not overtake us
Our souls weren't meant to stay
The voices are not greater
Than the God who is the way.

Darkness is all around us
Our thoughts all tend to fright
A life that's lumbering forward
Struggles to get through every night.

Leap! Leap! Leap!
Gather up those bundled chords
Throw them to the heavens
Release these worldly cords.

Joy may not come swiftly
But we surely will not succumb
The Lord of heaven sees us
Pray for the world to come.

Peace that overpasses
Every mortal cry
Is a gift to be awaited
A time when we shall fly.
