Starlight

by Matt Gullett

Starlight is often dull
Not because it is not bright
It's clouded by the skies
And subdued by dark of night.

Starlight is the brightest
When we close the greatest gap
And open up the heavens
And enter glory's grasp.

Starlight enters swiftly
And captures a precious gaze
To look upon the beauty
We must peer through darkest haze.

Starlight is quite like
A life that's glowing bright
But doused in saddened darkness
And trapped by thoughts and fright.

The God of glory made us
To brighten up each day
By announcing to the world
He is the better way.

Like starlight in the distance
We must peer and focus clear
To see the beauty hidden
By the daily toil and drear.

Your light is brightly shining
Beyond the greatest sight
You warm the hearts of others
Do not give up the fight.

The nighttime will soon pass
And clarity will return
Pray to the God of glory
For the peace your soul does yearn.
