"Marriage"

by Ginger Sizemore

Today people say, "define marriage"
Let's talk about husbands and wives
You said we could find happiness
If only we'd follow Ephesians five

Verse twenty-two speaks of submission
This seems so very hard to me
Especially the part about "everything"
This day and age, did you really foresee

Things are so crazy here, You know
I am sure You see it every day
We work so hard for all our "stuff "
Most never taking the time to pray

You're the head of the church, Lord
Like the bridegroom is to the bride
This is your holy plan for us
Our man is to be the guide

Husbands should love their wives
As a precious gift from above
Love her as he loves himself
Be closer than hand and glove

Verse thirty-two talks of a mystery
It's all about Christ and His church
To show love and respect
His Word we must search

Man's authority must be honest
It's not right to use and abuse
She pleases her man, God says obey
For holiness, His Word she pursues

Christ said to make time for prayer
In marriage, there's much to be said
To comply to his love and wishes
Keep things pure in the marriage bed

She must be wise and gentle
She is the princess of his life
After all, it was God who sent her
To be his faithful and loving wife

God has given man the authority
Today, that is plain and clear
But it doesn't necessarily mean
He should be downing his third beer

Lord we so need your help
In this difficult day and age
Your word we know is the truth
To use as our holiness gauge

Ephesians 5: 22-33
