Thanksgiving Time

by Pearl Leona Sturgis

I sit and watch the autumn leaves
fall gently to the ground...
Reminding me that very soon
Thanksgiving comes around;

A time for baking pumpkin pies
And stuffing turkeys too;
A special time we set aside
To Thank the Lord anew...

For home, for health, for happiness;
For family, friends and kin;
For those who walk beside us
Through troubles thick and thin;

For little children playing
With laughing eyes so bright;
For Dads and Mothers praying
their children are alright;

If we would count our blessings
Completely full and true...
We'd have to thank God always
In everything we do...

But He remembers our weak frame
And that we're made of dust.
That's how thanksgiving got its name
It's God reminding us!
