To be like Him…

by Bettina Van Vaerenbergh

Jesus came to serve
In true humility.
The Lord laid aside
His heavenly dignity…

Doing God's work
Both night and day;
Always busy,
Always on the way…

He opened blind eyes
And raised the dead.
He fed the hungry
With fishes and bread.

The deaf, they heard;
The mute, they talked…
He touched the lame
And lo, they walked!

All our sicknesses —
Christ Jesus healed,
And to wash our feet
The Lord even kneeled.

He also preached
On the Kingdom of God.
Jesus cared deeply
About His people's lot!

To be like the Lord,
Disciples must serve;
And from our purpose
Never ever swerve:

To overcome evil —
By doing good;
So we might produce
Abundant, lasting fruit…

To always walk
As children of the Light…
To show God's love,
And to do what's right…

To comfort those
Who ache and hurt…
We're called to shine,
So says God's Word.

To plant every day
A good Kingdom seed,
We need to look closely
At Jesus' deed…

To be more like Him
-It sure is a feat-
Disciples must kneel
And humbly wash feet!

Psalm 143:8

"Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in
the morning; for in thee do I trust:
cause me to know the way wherein I
should walk; for I lift up my soul unto
thee."
