Grief

by patricia guinn

Grief came into my life today
It sliced into my heart
It's cutting edge did pierce my soul
And tore my world apart

What a dark and ugly thing it was
So I tried to run away
But its feet were so much swifter
Evil had come to play

I heard its laughter in my mind
As I cried out with pain
Satan, its master cackled with glee
As it destroyed my everything

It left me lying on the ground
Afflicted, spent and lost
So much that it had took from me
How could I bear the cost

With tear-filled eyes I wondered
How could my life go on
It had stolen something precious
My reason for living was gone

Then a shining light appeared to me
I saw an Angel near
He brought with him a message
That my Father wanted me to hear

"My child this world must be suffered
Try your best not to complain
Your journey must be completed
No matter how great the pain

Just remember you are never alone
My love is always there
I will reach out and help you
When the burden you cannot bear

Some tears will always be with you
As long as this earth you roam
But I promise I will dry them all
The day I call you home

Don't let the evil of this world
Separate you from My Love
Someday you'll find all that you've lost
On the shore's of My Kingdom above."
