My Father's Protection

by Margaret Cagle

When I was just a little child,
I would become so deathly afraid
Of storms that brought lightning
And the noise that thunder made.

When I'd hear a storm approaching
And a clap of thunder I'd hear,
I would run and sit on Daddy's lap,
For in his lap, I felt no fear.

I thought that Daddy had the power
To protect me from fearful things.
Nothing could harm me in his lap,
Like a chick under mother's wings.

I have pondered this childhood trait.
I never doubted my daddy's protection.
We need to trust our Heavenly Father
And never doubt His love and affection.

When storms may rage in my life,
And my heart is filled with fear,
I'll run to my Heavenly Father.
Yes, He can turn my fear to cheer!
