An Easter Theme

by Anita Anderson

In the Bible we read about prophets of old.
"A Savior is coming!" that's what they foretold.
"A Messiah will come and walk among man.
Then He'll die in our place as a part of God's plan."
He died a cruel death,
From sin to set us free.
He rose up from the grave,
Death had no victory.
He lives in heav'n above,
He'll prepare a place for me.
He reigns forevermore,
In pow'r and majesty.

Born in Bethlehem's stable and laid in the hay,
God gave us His Son to show us the way.
Jesus walked with the Father till His dying day.
Then He gave His life, the full price to pay.
He died a cruel death,
From sin to set us free.
He rose up from the grave,
Death had no victory.
He lives in heav'n above,
He'll prepare a place for me.
He reigns for ever more,
In pow'r and majesty.

He was beaten and spit on, they mocked His dear name.
Though guiltless, they cried out "Crucify! He's to blame!"
Thorns were placed on His head and the blood trickled down,
Then Jesus carried His cross to the outskirts of town.
He died a cruel death,
From sin to set us free.
He rose up from the grave,
Death had no victory.
He lives in heav'n above,
He'll prepare a place for me.
He reigns forevermore,
In pow'r and majesty.

With nails in both hands and more in His feet,
Jesus took one last breath, though not in defeat.
He then conquered death's grip to set all men free.
It's so humbling to know, He did all this for me.
He died a cruel death,
From sin I am set free.
He rose up from the grave,
Death has no hold on me.
He lives in heav'n above,
He prepares a place for me.
He reigns forevermore,
In pow'r and majesty.
