With Their Lips Only

Some say they love Jesus,
but, it’s with their lips only
for their actions do not match
what their words say so boldly.

They tell you they believe,
but, it’s not with their heart
for deep inside of them
sin still plays an ugly part.

Their faith and trust in God,
they will openly declare
but, with the things of this world
they still have a love affair.

Their mouths sing the songs,
of the joy of their salvation
but, to them they hold no real
life-changing revelations.

Some say they love Jesus,
their lips mouth their devotion
but, their hearts are only . . .
going through the motion!

Isaiah 29:13

“Wherefore the Lord said,
Forasmuch as this people
draw near me with their mouth,
and with their lips do honour me,
but have removed their heart far
from me, and their fear toward
me is taught by the precept of men:”
