David and Bathsheba (Part 4)

Great was the passion in David the king
that drove him to do this dastardly thing.
Uriah the Hittite had now been slain
so that David his new conquest could gain.

The King of Israel was free to do
Those things that he had always wanted too
So Bathsheba became his new wife
and he was enjoying his kingly life

Time passed by and David had forgotten
his deeds so shameful and so rotten
But God remembered and saw everything
And sent Nathan the prophet to see the king

Nathan stood before king David now
and began to explain to David how
a rich man, poor man and little ewe lamb
became entangled in a dangerous game.
The rich man took everything and killed the ewe
And there was nothing the poor man could do.
David the shepherd king ranted and raved
He thought that the rich man was so depraved.

Saying “As sure as the Lord lives he should die,”
“Tell me who he is.” Was the king’s reply
“YOU ARE THE MAN, “ Nathan the prophet said
Filling the king with foreboding and dread.
