Why?

by Gertrude Jefferies

Somewhere there is a baby crying,
Somewhere there is a child who's scared.
A man somewhere has drunk up his whole paycheck,
And now can only sit and hang his head.

A mom has nothing for her hungry children,
And seniors can't afford to buy their meds.
And somewhere, yet another teen is pregnant,
Where will it end, or whom can some light shed?

I have no answers to the world's dilemma,
Or how to solve the problems that we face.
I only know that Jesus is the Answer!
And that he came to save the human race.

I know that if we follow his commandments,
And live our lives out by the Golden Rule.
A lot of problems we have now, would vanish,
And mankind would not play so much the fool.
