David V.S. Goliath

by Todd Fletcher

A giant came to challenge a small boy that turned a king
His name was Goliath but David came prepared with a sling
he went to a stream and pulled out five stones
but he only needed one, he had faith in God alone

he stood up to the giant, everyone else was scared
the giant looked upon David as the battle prepared
This is but a boy who you send to fight against all odds
surely there is someone else to fight with the strength of gods

Perhaps a man built as strong as an ox
Why do you bring this small boy with a sling and bag of rocks
The giant stood ready as David threw his sling
the stone hurled into the air as Goliath laughed, this is a king

David never doubted that his shot would hit the giants head
and down would fall Goliath, as viewers looked upon the dead
the dead man that a small boy had defeated was fearless and defiant
everyone who looked upon was in awe of the death of this giant

David prevailed by the strength and power of God's might
yet the giant was persistent to victory with all despite
despite the heavy favor was the giant who stood tall
as viewers stood in disbelief as they watched this giant fall
