Thus Far

by Donna Hendrix

Truly Lord, who am I that you have brought me thus far
For my life is surely not one without a mar
You were with me when I was your prodigal child
You loved me and cared for me all of the while

Lord you brought precious love in to my life
Someone to share the daily struggles and strife
You gave me children to raise in your Holy name
Although sometimes looking back I hang my head in shame

You showered me with blessings over the years
Sometimes took them away and left me in tears
But never once did you ever leave me all alone
Not once, did you ever leave me to go it on my own

In recent years my children have flown the nest
And you called my dear husband home to his final rest
Now looking back I clearly see the broken road
Leading straight to you from hence I strode

I have now reached a life full of contentment and peace
Only life with Jesus Christ can offer such release
Yes, my cup runneth over, you have filled up my jar
Truly Lord, who am I that you have brought me thus far?

Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? 2 Samuel 7:18 (NKJV)
