Little Foxes

by Pearl Leona Sturgis

The first Little Fox
had the name of "White Lie"
His motive seemed good
and his actions were sly.
He said many grapes
are too hard on the vine.
He left quite a few
so the grapes paid no mind.
He fooled them so well
that he tried it again.
The grapes didn't care
when his partner moved in.
The name of his partner
was "Falsely accuse".
The grapes closer by
felt condemned and confused.
The third Little Fox
called "Self righteous" did shout!
"We can't fool the good grapes!
They have not a doubt!"
They'll cling to the vine
till come harvest to reap.
Then folding their hands,
the good grapes fell asleep.
Then that Little Fox
named "Nobody Will Know"
called in all his partners
to finish the show.
Although all the good grapes
had passed every test
they let Little Foxes
devour the rest!
