A Sonnet of Redemption

by TebatjoMalaka © 2018

In You, Christ, my Saviour, hence my aims e’er dwell,
My love to You is cran’d past the luminaries above!
O lead me not to the mundane allurements of Hell;
Only pilot my goings to nobler life of Divine Love.
Alas my Lord, if it had not been for Grace on my side,
Then I had perish’d at the shore, Sin’s water did
overrun my soul, but nay, You bore me aloft the Tide
On mighty Eagle’s wings. O how of compassion the Deed!
Yet once more Your supernal Pinions o’er me unfold,
Teach me to soar farther beyond earth’s engulfing Dark;
And cease not my heaven-born character to mould
Having so done, I shall, mid sin, come blameless stark.
Jesus, lover of my soul, e’remore be my Saviour, and Guide,
And aye, let me in Your ever-widening spheres of Grace abide.
