Throughout the years I coped in ways
Made of this world and not what saves,
Lost childhood claimed by neglect
Spawned hurt, addiction and regret.
.
Nothing of life would be the same
Caught in a loop of toxic shame,
Mistakes were made, tears overflowed
How to forgive, I did not know.
Constructed walls to shield the pain
Yet Jesus climbed them time again,
No height too tall or width too wide
For Him to forge a path inside.
Then cast no stone, just offered grace
Towards that which I could not embrace,
Though led astray by man from Him
God saved my soul entrenched in sin.
What mattered not was of the past
But which now eternal would last,
By virtue of His faith above
Deep in my heart found, "God is love".
