Getting There

by Robert Hedrick © 2019

You can't see the sun set on a cloudy day,
You can't enjoy a band that does not play.
You can't get warm when there's no heat,
Your stomach churns with nothing to eat.

As winter arrives, there is a chill in the air,
As does a need for warm clothes to wear.
As those lush green hills turn snow white,
Displaying a beautiful sight day and night.

When the water boils, turn down the heat,
When trouble comes, do not admit defeat.
When help is needed, know where to look,
Open the covers to read God's Holy Book.

Then seek peace that only God can afford,
Worship with others in faith of one accord.
Serving The One Who died to set you free,
Saving your soul by giving it eternal liberty.

Honor The One that put the world in place,
Who in His image created the human race.
Extinguish thoughts that trouble your mind,
Take Jesus by the hand, leave them behind.
