I Slept Well

by Kingsley Ayistar
http://ayistary.blogspot.com

Feeling refreshed, I leave my bed.
Last night's sleep healed my tired head;
Evening left me peace and quiet;
My eyes were served Slumber's diet.

No frog grizzled, no dog did bark,
Nor were gunshots heard in the park.
While in my new Mosquito-net,
The tiny critters posed no threat.

My cerebrum was free from rain
Of futile thoughts that plagued my brain;
Even to pee I wasn't stirred--
Not until crowed the morning bird.

Light angels, at my horizon,
Watched out for trespassing demons.
Now I hope my eyes with no sigh
To welcome sun rays from the sky.

I hope to have a lovely day;
But, first off, let me kneel and pray. . . .
