"Be Of Good Cheer"

by Margaret Cagle

We look forward to a new year.
We want to leave troubles behind.
We seem to forget that a new year
May bring troubles of another kind.

The year may start with sadness
Like a death in the family or such,
And debts that were made last year
Can really overwhelm us so much.

We may choose to dwell on troubles.
It'll just bring heartache and strife.
In this world, troubles will come
Into each and everyone's life.

"In this world you will have trouble."
Jesus said, "But be of good cheer."
He said, "I have overcome the world."
So Christians, be happy this year!
